Toyota Liva

Toyota gained immense consideration after the launch of Etios sedan in December 2010, which also marked the turning point for the Japanese car maker in the Indian market. In the following year, Toyota Etios Liva was introduced and it helped Toyota establish itself in the numbers game as well. The Liva was built on the same platform and looked identical except for the missing boot.
The new Liva looks sharp thanks to the new sculpted bumper and the restyled grille. The new fascia makes the car look premium. Since it is a facelift, the body shell is the same and so is the profile. The tail gate has also been carried forward but the rear bumper gets a few additional curves.

Ford Figo

The new Figo hatchback is the next generation model from Ford in the B-Segment. The hatchback has been designed keeping in mind the One Ford philosophy followed by Ford’s global line-up.
Like most hatchbacks in the segment, the Figo gets black interior, though there are a few silver inserts for the dashboard, steering and door trim to give it a dual tone effect. The cabin has decent space both at the front and the back, but the biggest advantage is the utility quotient.

The Lodgy is Renault’s entry into the MPV segment in India. The MUV has been on sale in the European market for a while under the Dacia badge and the same has been adapted and improvised by Renault as per the requirements of the Indian customers.
The Lodgy looks big by itself, but is small in length when compared with the Innova. It is evident from the side profile. However, the car has a bigger wheelbase as compared to the Japanese MUV, which translates to more cabin space.

Chevrolet Tavera

The Tavera is strictly a MUV and the body-on-frame layout hints at the age-old underpinnings that have been made use of. The suspension was specially optimized for India and does a great job of absorbing whatever is thrown at it. The ride, though not exactly cushy, is quite pliant.
Handling is the weak area of the Tavera but then again, it is a car that will not be driven with your mad-hat on. For normal use, it is just fine and the body roll is well controlled. The high speed stability is also commendable. Brakes however are something that Chevrolet should look into as they feel soggy and you have to really press them hard to feel the discs working.

Toyota Innova Crysta

The Toyota Innova has been the Japanese automaker’s most successful product to date in India after taking over from the Qualis, its predecessor. Since it began sales in 2005, the Innova had remained pretty much the same until the showcase of the Innova Crysta at the Auto Expo 2016.

The new generation Innova is almost an entirely new car except for the remnants of the body shell. Built to meet the demands of the new age Indian car buyer, the Innova Crysta looks and feels more premium than the outgoing car.
